The Prince Albert Urban Indigenous Coalition (PAUIC) is a community-driven circle advancing reconciliation and wellbeing for urban Indigenous people in the Prince Albert region. Rooted in decades of advocacy by Indigenous-led groups, PAUIC plays a central role in strengthening inter-agency collaboration, fostering cultural awareness, and leading collective community action.
PAUIC works in close partnership with the Prince Albert Community Networking Coalition (CNC), a long-standing coalition formed in the 1990s to enhance communication, reduce service duplication, and promote collaborative solutions across the community. Together, PAUIC and CNC form a powerful network that connects over 500 community-based organizations across health, education, culture, policing, and social services.
Through their partnership, PAUIC and CNC have:
- Developed and maintained a comprehensive community directory of local programs and services
- Led the creation of a Community Social Action Plan
- Co-hosted virtual community gatherings that sustained connection and expanded reach during the pandemic
- Co-led the formation of Community Building Youth Futures (CBYF), a pan-Canadian youth initiative focused on education, employment, and leadership
In recognition of their shared leadership, PAUIC and CNC received the 2020 Affinity Credit Union Partnership and Reconciliation Award from the Saskatchewan Economic Development Alliance and the Saskatchewan Indigenous Economic Development Network.
