Our approach
Our team believes in delivering processes specifically designed for the communities and organizations we serve.
We use proven methods, including Appreciative Inquiry, a holistic, strengths-based facilitation method that builds on respectful participation and engagement of all those involved to generate innovations and practical solutions for change. We couple this with creating and holding ethical spaces where diverse perspectives and worldviews can come together to create shared understanding and dialogue (see Dr. Willie Ermine, the Space of Engagement, 2017).
Our approach serves as a foundation for our holistic thinking and understanding of the communities we serve. This includes simplicity, recognition, respect for all cultures, and understanding reciprocal action among elements, which align with our values and guide our implementation.
This approach provides a comprehensive framework for individual and societal perspectives, developing a sense of coherence in life and recognizing influences to increase the ability to effect change across cultural, social, economic, and political environments. Moreover, our approach functions across disciplines, professions, and sectors, supporting the development of a shared general vision and context for action.
Our work is guided by a circle of Elders, Old People, and Knowledge Keepers from a wide array of expertise.
Flexibility and adaptability are fundamental principles of our approach. We recognize the unique needs of each community and organization and work closely with the client to design a process that suits those needs. Drawing from our experiences and learnings in various domains, such as planning, cultural and heritage planning, Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirited+ Calls for Justice, housing and homelessness, educational, social and economic development, we integrate best practices and tailor our approach accordingly.
